Derbyshire smokers are being urged to quit for 28 days and see the difference that it can make.

October 1 sees the launch of this year’s Stoptober challenge. The annual campaign, run by Public Health England, attracts thousands of people keen to quit.

Research shows that you’re four times more likely to quit with your local stop smoking service.

Live Life Better Derbyshire offers a free stop smoking service for Derbyshire residents.

This includes:

  • telephone support sessions
  • one-to-one support
  • access to free Nicotine Replacement Therapy including patches, mouth spray, gum, inhalators and lozenges
  • access to stop smoking medication on prescription
  • advice on stop smoking medications
  • useful tools to help you quit

The team will also be holding a series of drop in events across the county. You can find out more about the support on offer, take part in a health MOT and register to take part in the service.

October 1 The Arc, Matlock 10am – 2pm
October 2 Matlock job centre 10am -12.15pm
October 3 Killamarsh Parish Suite and Pump Bar 10am -12.30pm
October 4 Post Mill Centre, South Normanton 10.30am – 3pm
October 5 Welbeck Road surgery, Bolsover 8am – 12pm
October 8 Chesterfield College 10am – 1pm
October 8 Dronfield Sports Centre 10am – 2pm
October 10 Belper Football Club 12pm – 4pm
October 14 Derbyshire County Council, County Hall 9.30am – 3pm
October 14 Chesterfield Royal Hospital 10am – 2pm
October 18 Hilton village hall 10am – 2pm
October 23 Chesterfield Royal Hospital 10am – 2pm
