EBC Walking Month

The following walks are being provided locally as part of the EBC walking month:

Tuesday 12th May

45 Club – Come with us for a walk and chat

Run by Why Talking Fixes – The Will Garvey Trust Foundation

Time: 7 – 8 pm

Start and finish: Bridge Street, Ilkeston, DE7 8WL 

Distance: Approx. 1.6 miles

Parking: On street parking only

Toilets: No

Accessibility: 0 stiles  

Walk description: Open to anyone. 45 club helps with mental wellbeing. 45 represents the memory of Will’s football number after he died by suicide.    

Booking: No booking is required.

Thursday 14th May

Elvaston Night Walk

Run by Elvaston Night Walk

Time: 7 – 8.15 pm

Start and finish: Thulston Village Green, Thulston, DE72 3EY 

Distance: Approx. 3 miles

Parking: On street parking only

Toilets: No

Accessibility: 1 – 5 stiles

Walk description: An evening walk in and around Elvaston Castle Country Park.

Booking: No booking is required.

Friday 15th May

The Community Craft Walk

Run by Our Crafty Place CIC

Time: 10 am – 2.30 pm 

Start and finish: Our Crafty Place, 1 Corporation Road, Ilkeston, DE7 4AS

Distance: Approx. 1.5 miles

Parking: On street parking only. People cannot park in the Davy Lamp car park.

Toilets: Yes, at Asda Petrol Station

Accessibility: 0 stiles 

Walk description We will start the day at 10 am to make crafts such as painted pebbles, compostable paper seed labels and during the walk these handmade crafts will be left for the community to find. Followed, by a gentle one-hour walk with mostly flat paths and some steps over the canal bridge.

Accessible Walk and Talk

Run by Accessible Walk and Talk

Time: 1.30 – 3.30 pm

Start and finish: West Park Leisure Centre, Wilsthorpe Road, Long Eaton, NG10 4AA

Distance: Approximately 1 – 2 miles

Parking: Yes, free parking and disabled parking

Toilets: Yes, and disabled toilets  

Accessibility: 0 stiles

Walk description: A slow amble around the flat paths at West Park making it suitable and accessible for people using mobility aids.

Monday 18th May

Toton Fields and Park

Run by Long Eaton Town Walk

Time: 10 – 11 am

Start and finish: Long Eaton Town Hall, Derby Road, Long Eaton, NG10 1HU 

Distance: Approx. 1.5 miles

Parking: Yes, payable at Town Hall grounds or free if shopping at Asda supermarket 

Toilets: No

Accessibility: 0 stiles  

Walk description: Walking along town roads to cross river into Toton Park. Around park and recreation grounds returning via Nottingham Road.

Bennerley Viaduct   

Run by Monday Strollers in collaboration with The Friends of Bennerley Viaduct

Time: 10.15 am – 12 noon

Start and finish: Victoria Park Leisure Centre, Manners Road, Ilkeston, DE7 8AT

Distance: Approx. 3 miles

Parking: On street parking only behind Victoria Park Leisure Centre

Toilets: At the start and finish of the walk

Accessibility: 0 stiles  

Walk description: A sociable stroll down to view and learn about the history of Erewash Valleys own rate Grade II listed Iron Giant.

Petersham Wellness Walk

Run by Erewash Borough Council

Time: 11 am – 12.15 pm 

Start and finish: Petersham Hall, Grasmere Road, Long Eaton, NG10 4DZ

Distance: Approx. 0.5 – 2.5 miles 

Parking: On street parking only

Toilets: Yes, at Petersham Community Hall

Accessibility: 0 stiles  

Walk description: Weekly wellness walks (except bank holidays) around Petersham Green. Walk as many laps of the green as you feel comfortable. All abilities welcome.
