Stanley Bus Shelter

Cllr Carol Hart (EBC/DCC) has informed the Parish Council that the damaged bus shelter in Stanley Village will be replaced. As this was knocked down due to a vehicle accident, the incident is being processed through insurance. This may take some time to go through, but please be assured, the bus shelter will be replaced.

Christmas Lights Switch-On 2024

Due to the cost implications of repairing the collapsed Christmas Tree electrical chamber in Stanley and re-siting the electrical chamber at Stanley Common (because of the in-line crossing point that was installed last year), along with additional licences needed for using the street lighting, the Parish Council have made the decision to move the  Community Christmas Trees to the White Hart in Stanley and Top Club in Stanley Common. This will save the Parish Council thousands of pounds but will still bring Christmas cheer to our villages and allow our community to gather together. The celebrations will take place:

6pm on 29th November 2024 at Top Club, Stanley Common

6pm on 6th December 2024 at White Hart, Stanley

Come along to the light switch-on followed by the usual refreshments and celebrations afterwards! The Parish Council would like to thank our hosts for offering the use of their facilities.

Parish Survey 2024

Stanley and Stanley Common Parish Survey results are available to view. Please see attached links.

If you would like to see a hardcopy, you can access this by visiting the Post Office in Stanley or Stanley Common. Please ask behind the counter. We would kindly ask you not to remove the survey from the Post Office so that other residents can look at this, too. These will be available to view at the Post Office until January 2025.

If you would like your own paper copy, please contact: parishclerk@stanleyandstanleycommon-pc.gov.uk . Charges may apply.

Snow Time to Lose!

Derbyshire County Council are encouraging local communities to help keep pathways and pavements clear of snow and ice this winter. DCC’s Snow Warden Scheme continued to be successful last year with 50 parishes joining the scheme with volunteers helping to clear snow and ice and grit footways and pavements.

As we don’t know yet what this winter will bring, we don’t want to be caught off guard. The call has also gone out to community groups and schools interested in volunteering as Snow Wardens for footway clearing.

Therefore, we want to hear from you now if you’re interested in helping to keep main pavements and other footpaths in your local area clear.

Please contact the Parish Clerk at parishclerk@stanleyandstanleycommon-pc.gov.uk to register your interest!

Volunteers for planters in Stanley and Stanley Common

Thank you to those of you who have volunteered to help maintain the flower beds in the two villages. The Parish Council have looked at the numbers of volunteers who have come forward, and have had to take the tough decision not to have any planters this summer. This decision was made because sadly, there were not enough volunteers. The planters (apart from the bed at Bulls Corner in Stanley and Mining Carriage in Stanley Common) will be covered over with weed control membrane.

If you have some spare time and are willing to volunteer, please let the Parish Clerk or a local Parish Councillor know, so that a bank of volunteers can be called upon to help continue to make our villages colourful. Contact: parishclerk@stanleyandstanleycommon-pc.gov.uk or call 07763 832661.
